Toby Hollman took the mound today in the final game of the City Series between Ed Walsh's Royals and South Meriden's Little's Plowing. The Royals quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Little's bats came alive in the third and fourth innings as they pushed across 5 runs to take a 5-2 lead. Meanwhile Toby H. kept the Royals offense quiet until the fifth inning where they scored 2 runs. Troy relieved Toby getting the final out of the 5th inning leaving the score 5-4. Little's was held scoreless in the bottom of the 5th. The Royals scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th. The final out coming on a great stab by Kyle at short flipping the ball to Chris who made an awesome bare handed catch. The bottom of the 6th saw Little's down 7-5. The inning started off with 3 walks and a base hit by Will K. Kyle P. followed with a single to score Toby from third with the tying run. Evan G. hit a walk off line drive base hit to left field scoring Will with the winning run as Little's Plowing won the City Series for the second straight year. The team and parents want to thank all the coaches for their hard work throughout the season. A special thanks to Coach Mark who's dedication to the team was endless. Practices that started back in February when Baseball was not even a passing thought on most kids minds our kids were out playing catch and hitting whiffle balls getting in shape. That dedication is what makes the difference between getting there year after year and just falling short. Also you could always count on Coach Mark being down at the field hours early either cutting the grass or raking out the infield after rain to make it just so for the players. The team want's to shout out a big ( HAA!!! ) to Coach Mark. We did it ( Again!)
